“I sold my first article!” I ran around and told everyone I knew. They shared in my excitement and waited for details. “I made $4.77!” While I was still excited, my audience seemed a little less thrilled. I brought down the moment further when I told them the threshold for dispersing funds from this company was $5.00. I needed to earn $0.13 more in order to get paid for my first sold article. I did not care about the money at all; I was satisfied that I had officially become a paid writer.  Someone thought enough of my writing to pay hard earned money on it.  My words were going to affect thousands, even millions of lives!  As you can tell, I am an extremely hopeful and optimistic person. With each day, there are many opportunities for greatness. Because of the sale, I was encouraged to keep writing.  I had a voice that at least one person wanted to hear (read). So, I type on.

Forget "next chapter"...more like NEW BOOK!

I have taken the road often traveled by making various career switches during my post graduate life, yet this road has been rewarding and led me to a place of destiny. Shouldn't we all reach a point in life when we can explore our passions with fervency without regard to failure? What an absolutely wonderful place to exist! AUTHOR:  As a lifelong closet author, I am finally pursuing my writing seriously. My completed works include both new adult fictions as well as inspirational and Christian devotionals.  ACADEMICIAN:  With a Master of Humanities degree under my belt, I believe that the time is now to stand up for the study of arts and humanities in our STEM-focused society. As I state in my capstone research project, "integrating liberal arts education in STEM curricula in higher education will better prepare students for the 21st century global workforce, which will continue America on the path of innovation it has historically paved and trod."  ALTRUIST:  I am a firm believer of paying it forward. The more valuable we are to others, the more valuable our own lives will be.
